Huw Smith - Director (BDMA Tech)
After studying business and catering at college Huw's first job saw him help run a hotel in a French ski resort. After running his own carpet cleaning company for a few years Huw bought the Rainbow franchise in 1994 making him the longest serving Rainbow franchisee in the network.
Huw joined the BDMA just after it was formed and the company supports the industry with all technicians joining and becoming accredited. In 1999 Huw won the accolade of the BFA franchisee of the year ( this is an annual award across the entire franchise industry).
Away from the restoration business Huw spends almost all his spare time in sport. He is an ISIA qualified ski instructor and spends most of this spare time in the winter skiing. As well as his passion for skiing Huw is a very keen road cyclist & runner. He also enjoys a round of golf and watching rugby, football & cricket.
Paul Grant - Field Operations Manager (BDMA Tech)
Paul started in the industry as a trainee technician with Rainbow in 1996 at the age of 17. Paul quickly developed a passion for the industry and over the years of employment slowly climbing the ladder to technician, senior technician and more recently to operations manager. Paul has gained a huge amount of technical knowledge by experience, training and by dedicated self development. Paul is an accredited BDMA technician. Paul is passionate about helping customers and giving them the best technical solution and also passing on his skills and helping to train and develop other technicians.
Away from the industry Paul spends time with his young family and enjoys quality time and days away with his children. Paul enjoys reading and watching documentaries.
Andrew Jones - Office based Operations Manager (Insurance Cert CII)
Following in the family tradition of farming and after studying in Pencoed Agricultural college, for 20 years Andrew has built up an extensive knowledge of property and commercial liability claims, with previous employment with Rainbow International for an 8 year period as a senior technician ( 2000-2008).
In the last 10 years Andrew had worked in insurance claims for insurance brokers and national loss adjusters. More recently Andrew was working on large scale commercial marine claims incidents up to £1 million. Andrew re joined Rainbow International in November 2018. Andrew is cert CII qualified and still maintains a passion for the farming environment.
Away from insurance he enjoys using his campervan, walking and watching rugby.
Rachael Hoyles - Administrator & Marketing
Rachael has worked for Rainbow International for more than 10 years. In addition to being an experienced administrator Rachael runs our website, does our marketing and all our social media.
Much of Rachael’s time is focused on the non head office related work which therefore is work with our local private clients such as housing associations, councils, schools, builders and many more. Rachael is very customer service focused and is passionate that our clients receive the best possible service.
Away from work Rachael enjoys camping and spending time with friends and family.
Katie Glover - Administrator & Claims Handler (3 days per week)
Kate has been at Rainbow for just over 1 year but previously has over ten years experience in the insurance claims industry having worked in travel, household, personal injury and industrial disease claims.
When she is not spending time with her family, Kate likes to keep fit and is a zumba instructor. She also likes walking her dog, baking and reading.
During the summer months she volunteers at a local lifeguard club where she helps to educate children and young people about water safety.
Sharon Hubbard - Administrator & Claims Handler (4 days per week)
Sharon has been at Rainbow for 16 years, and previously to that worked for Loss Adjusters for approximately 10 years. Sharon therefore has a significant amount of restoration and insurance claims handling knowledge & experience.
Sharon has two daughters, one of whom is getting married later this year and she also has a 5 year old granddaughter. Needless to say Sharon enjoys spending quality time with family, as well as taking holidays/short breaks and walking.
Rob Hards - Buildings Project Manager
Rob has worked within the building industry for the last 14 years. Prior to joining Rainbow International, Rob worked for a property preservation company on the south coast who specialise in carrying out damp proofing and timber treatments, condensation control as well as a large amount of building and re-instatement work. Rob climbed the career ladder and was promoted into management which gave him the essential understanding of running building projects and keeping tight time frames.
Rob's new role at Rainbow International is to run the buildings projects in a 'hands on' capacity and to coordinate other specialist tradespeople to deliver a one stop timeless solution for the client. Rob also carries out damp surveys and looks at remedies for clients. Carry out ongoing buildings construction training with our technicians is also an important part of the role.
Gavin Charles - Senior Technician (BDMA Tech)
Gavin was born in the beautiful island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean. He moved to the UK to pursue an accountancy career over 20 years ago. Once in the UK Gavin moved into the hospitality industry as a chef. Gavin first cousin Wilf owns a Rainbow franchise in Sussex so Gavin new Rainbow well and joined our team in 2008. Over the next 10 years he progressed to the role of Senior Technician. He is passionate about helping customers and his colleagues.
Gavin is a DIY enthusiast and has carried out large and very successful DIY projects in his own home. Coming from the Caribbean he is a big cricket fan and an avid Arsenal football supporter. He is also very keen on tennis. Gavin’s other passion is motorcycles although the British weather means that he cannot ride as often as he would like.
Martyn Acock - Senior Technician (BDMA Tech)
Martyn started out by attending college to become an auto mechanic. 5 years later Martyn started with Rainbow international and he has been an important member of our team for over 20 years, firstly as a trainee technician then progressing to become a senior technician today.
Martyn's considerable experience means that he is often used to train and develop newer members of staff and he enjoys passing his skills and experience onto them. He is also very keen to attend more courses and develop his own knowledge.
Martyn is a proud father of 3 children, which when not entertaining them on weekends, he likes to watch motor sports, rugby, football and play golf on occasions.
He also enjoys cooking and relaxes by watching tv series or movies.
Mike Turner - Technician (BDMA Tech)
Mike is our longest serving member of staff having joined the team way back in 1994. This makes Mike one of the longest serving technicians in the industry. Previously Mike had worked as an architect’s technician.
Mike’s day to day role is mainly to run the fire restoration and large cleaning projects which has meant that he has trained many of our staff over the years. As well as being BDMA qualified Mike has IPAF and PASMA qualifications. In addition to flood restoration work Mike is very experienced in carpet and upholstery cleaning. Many years ago Mike oversaw training of other key staff such as Paul and Martyn.
Outside of work Mike’s is busy with his family and is main hobby is archery and he also enjoys reading and attending food festivals.
Ana Hmelnitkaia - Restoration Cleaner & Support Technician (2 days per week)
Ana has worked at Rainbow for 3 years and mainly works on fire restoration projects, builders cleans and carrying out packaging jobs. Ana loves to meet new customers, and goes out of her way to make sure their homes are restored to a very high standard.
Ana was a university graduate in science before moving from Moldova with her husband. They love it here so much that they have settled here and bought a house. Ana's family has grown - in 2018 she became a mother of a wonderful little boy, and they also have 2 ferrets.
In her free time Ana is occupied with her young son, photography, watching mystery movies and reading scientific articles, cycling, and gardening. Ana even has time to produce a video blog about her life experience in UK. In her spare time Ana has also got out and about and really enjoyed visiting the Welsh and south West countryside.
David Roderick - Electrical Testing Engineer (2 days per week)
David, who is from Pembrokeshire, has worked in electrical appliance industry for all of his life. Initially he completed an apprenticeship in Radio and TV Servicing. After working for a national TV rental company for 7 years he emigrated to New Zealand where he stayed for 30 years working for a number of companies in the electronics servicing industry.
David has a son and daughter who were born and still live in New Zealand. He thoroughly enjoyed the New Zealand lifestyle and spent family holidays camping and exploring the North Island. On returning to Wales David worked in TV servicing in Pembrokeshire before joining Rainbow where he has worked since 2008. His expertise was used to restore smoke and flood damaged electrical and electronic items. He also serviced and PAT tested the company drying equipment which eventually took up the majority of his time. Since his retirement from full time work he has continued to do this on a part time basis.
David now lives in Cardiff with his partner and likes to visit parts of the UK that he never got to see prior to emigrating. He also likes to research his family history and reading both fiction and non-fiction . This together with repairing all sorts of items family and friends seem to believe he can fix keeps him busy in his retirement. Recently David even full restored an original 1956 Wurlitzer juke box !
Dean Murray - Support Technician Full time
Dean is a very important member of our team and has been with Rainbow for 3 years. Dean is an extremely practical and hard working technician with lots of knowledge and in his time with Rainbow has experienced countless projects.
Dean enjoys spending time with his young family of 4 and loves his holidays. When he is not working, Dean likes to spend his spare time fixing cars, and can be found on most weekends down by the lake fishing, where he is mainly fishing for Carp. The one in his profile picture being the largest he has caught at almost 33lbs.
Anastasia Sidorenco - Restoration Cleaner & Support Technician
Anastasia has worked for Rainbow for just over 2 years. She came to Britain from Moldova and has now settled here permanently. Anastasia spoke English really well when she came to Rainbow but she has perfected her English to an excellent level. In her time with Rainbow she has gained great experience of the restoration industry and she works extremely hard and takes pride in her work. Her attention to detail and customer care ensures that the customer gets the best possible restoration results. Recently Anastasia attended a 4 day Fire Restoration course at Rainbow Head Office to improve her restoration knowledge and practical skills. She passed with flying colours.
Prior to working with Rainbow Anastasia did a degree in fine art and away from work she enjoys oil painting and drawing. She loves animals and a few months ago she adopted a cat which is now very much part of her family.
John Silvester - Senior Administrator
John has been in the insurance industry for over 15 years and in that time has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in claims management. 11 of those years have been with Rainbow International. John worked for a National Loss Adjusting company for 2 years dealing with all types of insured perils before joining Rainbow. John also worked for a National Broker dealing with private clients, high net worth and professional service groups.
Away from work John has a young family and spends most of his time taking and watching his son play football. Indeed John is now coaching the team aswell.
